How did you get into bike racing?
I had been doing some mountain bike racing in 8th grade, but I only got into road racing after a long string of injuries during cross country my freshman and sophomore years of high school. I started to cross-train on the bike, and, realizing it was a lot more fun, I jumped into a few junior races.
What is your favorite ride?
In Frederick, MD, my teammate David Brookes took me on a 52-mile ride with over 5000 feet of climbing and several hills with 20+% gradients. Despite running out of water in 105-degree weather, it was one of the most fun, not to mention challenging, rides I have ever done.
What are your goals for the 2012 season and beyond?
My personal goals for the 2012 season are to get a Cat 2 upgrade and finish in the top 15 at junior 17-18 nationals in June. Beyond that, I would like to become a Cat 1 racer and be competitive in NRC races as an amateur or even as a professional, if I ever get the opportunity.
